Edinburgh
is my favourite city. Having lived here throughout my
undergraduate days and returned dozens of times since,
there is very little left unphotographed. However, it
being a bright, sunny day, I decided to head up Calton
Hill and take some pictures from its unique vantage
point. |

We
had the better part of a day to kill before the departure
of our flight back to Hamilton so we decided to do a
little exploring. Rosslyn Chapel is only a few miles
south of the city and, what with books and movies and
such, is an enormously popular site to visit. They are
still busy with restoration and the building is cocooned
in scaffolding. However, this does give you an opportunity
to examine the external details much more closely. |

We
also had time to visit Traquair House, home to the Stuarts
of Traquair who are staunch Catholics and remained loyal
to the Jacobite cause. It is claimed that it is the
oldest continuously occupied house in Scotland and substantial
parts of the building below date to the twelfth century. |
